An Artist’s Staircase to Success

Rita Winkler grew up in Pforzheim, a city of jewellers and watchmakers in West Germany. In Pforzheim she first gained an apprenticeship as a goldsmith and then studied for a diploma in jewellery design. She then worked as a jewellery designer, creating prototypes which went into limited edition production lines.
After migrating to Western Australia in 1985, Rita taught jewellery design at Bunbury TAFE for five years, conducted many workshops and taught at Albany Summer School for 7 years.
Inspired by Australian landscape, Rita creates works that are admired by viewers. She will also be exhibiting her work at the Collie Art Gallery along with three fellow artists 23 March – 21 April.
Join Rita’s workshop for a discussion about the processes in jewellery/metal. She will also talk about the ways in which you can become a self-supporting artist and promote yourself.
