Beginners’ painting workshop a sell-out

There was not one seat spare in Malini Parker’s one-day intensive Painting for Beginners workshop held recently.
Participants travelled from as far north as Perth and as far south as Quinninup to learn the basics of abstract painting alongside locals.
Malini shared her seven-step process, which includes priming , adding textures with a variety of techniques, then applying layers of paint with water to produce surprising results.
“My workshop is best suited to people that haven’t painted since they were little enough to hand it to their mother, who said ‘that’s nice, dear’ and put it on the fridge,” said instructor Malini Parker.
The workshop was more focussed on achieving a sense of detachment than the need for any experience or talent.
Pam O’Garr, who travelled from Perth for the workshop, said it was an amazing day. “Why did I wait so long? Fantastic!” said Ms O’Garr.
