The Collie Art Gallery will be hosting an exhibition of works by Perth-based artist, Carol Rowling. Carol’s work explores the landscape from above, the myriad of colours, marks, layers, platelets and textures she sees from flying over this vast and fascinating country of ours. She interprets this by carving into layers of canvas with a power tool. When assembling each work, Carol places the canvas over pre-shaped wood and stretcher frames. This approach represents the true depiction of decades of aerial views, poignant memories of landscapes and photography.
Carol studied Art and Design at the Carine College of TAFE and the Claremont School of Art in Perth, W.A.
In April this year Carol held a Solo exhibition at Turner Galleries, Perth. Internationally, she has exhibited at the London Art Biennale, the Kenny Gallery Ireland, the Atenao Madrid Spain, the Gallery De’Marchi Bologna with Trevisan International art and the Florence Biennale.
Please join the Collie Art Gallery for the opening on 21 December, 6-8pm. The exhibition will run through until 10 February 2019.
