Emergence Exhibition Opening

6pm on Friday the 4th of August at the Collie Art Gallery is the opening of the Emergence exhibition.  This mixed media exhibition will be the culmination of over 12-months of youth focussed workshops in digital media, traditional culture, music, visual arts and art therapy thanks to the generous funding received by nib foundation. The arts project has focussed on working with youth at risk & the disadvantaged youth of Collie in new and creative ways. In partnership with Collie PCYC & Ngalang Boodja we have provided a safe and inspired place for intergenerational & collaborative art making with professional & emerging artists.

The exhibition will feature collaborative works by highly awarded artists including Sandra Hill and Lori Pensini. The Exhibition is a celebration of the emerging talents of Collie Youth whose arts and Noongar culture will be made visible thanks to a collaborative community approach.

“Emergence means to be made visible, and in working with these groups of kids, we have been giving them the opportunity to experience new & creative ways of being in the world with positive engagement and building a sense of belief in their own potential. This exhibition is an opportunity to show case the highlights of this creative journey so far and to instil even more pride, confidence and connection into the young people we have been working with.” says Joshua Thomason, the project coordinator.

Emergence Collie opens at 6pm and is on display until the 18th of August.
