The popular Griffin Festival of the Arts, this year titled Festiv Arty, will open 8 September 2017. The festival comprises an art competition and exhibition, street fair, street art and writer’s festival. There is a diverse range of categories in the art competition, including painting, mixed media, scrapbook, photography, woodwork, ceramics, sculpture, mosaics and textiles, with special categories for youth arts, crafts, emerging artists and ‘out of town’ artists. The Festiv Arty Committee will introduce a performing arts competition this year.
Collie Art Gallery will be a major venue for the festival as it was last year. Works will be on display at the gallery 8 September to 1 October 2017. Entries for the performing arts competition close this Friday, while art competition entries close 11 August.
