The Collie Art Gallery’s first-ever social event for Members of the Gallery was held last Friday, 19 September 2014 at the Collie Senior High School’s Performing Arts Centre.
The event was a feast for the eyes as well as a chance to meet and mingle with other like-minded people, with the screening of art films and tasting of art-inspired finger food, wine, beer and soft drink and a guitar ensemble busking.
The Galley Group committee members baked up a storm to provide a range of finger food inspired by famous artworks. Members were impressed with the diversity and quality of the two half-hour art films screened during the evening, including Jeffrey Smart’s Master of Stillness and Jenny Sages’ Pathways to Portraiture.
Students from Collie Senior High School provided a lovely atmosphere with a classical guitar ensemble, which raised more than $120 for their upcoming Gallipoli trip.
The event was free of charge, but available only to members of the Members of the Gallery. If you’re not a member yet,it’s not too late to join. Become an Inaugural Member before 1 January 2015 and your membership fees will never increase as long as you remain a member.
