Mining Memories – Etching Workshop

Mining Memories is the title of another workshop to be held during the Seven Forms exhibition. This workshop seeks to engage in conversations about mining memories and explore them through etching. Participants will be introduced to drypoint by expert etcher Sarah Robinson, learn different drawing techniques to create images onto plastic drypoint plates, and experiment with inking and printing on a small 3D printed etching press sourced from THE OPEN PRESS project. The workshop includes a brief tour of the exhibition Seven Forms (Collie ’22) in the gallery.

Venue: Collie Art Gallery

Date: Sunday, 7 August

Time: 10 am 1 pm

Cost: $10

Please bring any object or image from your association with the Collie mining industry; it could be a mining helmet, mask, lamp, coal carving, letters, or photos from the local area. Everything else that you need will be provided. The workshop is designed for adults and no experience is required.
