Art of the Early 20th Century
This course serves to investigate major trends that occurred during the first half of the 20th Century. The styles that emerged echoed that of major movements occurring in Europe, however the pervading influence of the landscape and the uniqueness of Australian life continued to provide inspiration to the artists.
Themes covered will include:
- The Melbourne Scene
- The Angry Penguins and the Antipodeans
- The Sydney Scene
- Patrons of the Arts in Australia and the development of our major art awards
When: Wednesday evenings, 6.00pm – 8.30 pm
Starts: July 21st – September 22nd; October 13th – November 17th, 2021
Duration: 16 weeks
Costs: $190 (members) $200 (non-members)
What to bring: Sketch book, drawing and designing materials, miscellaneous materials as required throughout course.

The materials used will vary and may include painting, printmaking, drawing, textiles and/or ceramics.
Who can join the class? Anyone! No experience necessary.
