Peteris (Peter) Ciemitis is a West Coast artist who has exhibited widely both in WA and internationally. Known for his portraiture, Peter has been shortlisted in the prestigious Archibald Prize twice and was winner of the Black Swan Prize for Portraiture in 2010 (now called the Lester Prize).
For Peter Ciemitis the exhibition title has many layered meanings. At a personal level, most artists are constantly striving to evolve their work. Whilst their past might be a foundation and inspiration, new work will always be searching further. The Past Stops Now is an exhibition of paintings and drawings by the artist from 2008 to present day.
