I am constantly inspired by the natural beauty in the landscape that surrounds us.

Cynthia Dix

Cynthia Dix is a painter, ceramicist and sculptor, living and working in the South West of Western Australia. Cynthia has drawn and painted throughout her life, as a natural part of her expression.

“Where we live in Australia’s beautiful South West we are witness to the constant changes in the natural environment,” says Cynthia.

“Wildflowers, grevilleas and gumflowers, that bloom from winter to summer, the blossoms of the orchards in spring, autumn’s bountiful harvest of apples, pears, persimmons and oranges in winter.”

Cynthia is fascinated and inspired by the old Dutch and Flemmish masters who captured the transient beauty of flowers and fruit.

“Some might look at my work and say, ‘they are just pretty pictures’ and I certainly hope that’s true. I want it to be enjoyed and give pleasure,” says Cynthia.

Cynthia has studied at Fremantle Arts Centre and Claremont Art as well as recent studies in Visual Arts at Edith Cowan University’s South West Campus.

Cynthia’s paintings have been exhibited at the Melville Art Awards, Fremantle Arts Centre, Iona Art Exhibition, Artitude, Live Laugh Paint, Dardanup Art Spectacular, Royal Agricultural Art Show and the Harvey Art Show.

Cynthia received the Viewers’ Choice award at the 2007 Mulyallup Muster and recently held her first solo exhibition at the ArtGeo Cultural Complex in January 2015.
