Printmakers' passion on display

The art of printmaking is a passion, which once discovered can easily become an obsession, as this group of diverse but highly experienced artists will agree.

Diverse Print, showcases the extraordinary work of eight artists of The SouthWest Printmakers group – Chris Freind, Denise Gillies, Helen Hume-Gerrard, Lianne Jay, Christine Latham, Anne-Marie Lapinski, Lynne Mitchell and Liz Royce.

Each individual artist practices their own unique style within a diverse range of printmaking methods and techniques including woodcut, linoprint, etching, aquatint, relief, collagraph, solar printing, cyanotype, waterless lithography, monoprint and monotype. Each printmaker stretches the parameters of the medium, some taking printmaking techniques into equally diverse art practices, including photography, installation, artist’s books and sculpture.

This year The South West Printmakers celebrate their eleventh year of sharing their mutual passion encouraging printmaking as a visual language through exhibitions and workshops. Each works individually, living in locations as diverse as Bridgetown, Balingup, Donnybrook, Bunbury and Ferguson Valley, coming together each month to exchange ideas and plan exhibitions. Between meetings they keep in touch, enthusiastically engaging in a dialogue of the limitless possibilities of printmaking.
