The Griffin Festival for the Arts is back for 2016, and it promises to be bigger than ever with the addition of a new street art component, a live performance as well as the always-popular art and craft exhibition, street fair and a writers’ festival.

Entries are now open for arts and crafts in a range of categories, including painting, dry works, mixed media, scrapbooking, photography, woodwork, china painting, ceramics, sculpture, mosaics and textiles, with special categories for youth arts and crafts and novices.

Works will be on show at the Collie Art Gallery and the Collie PCYC.

A huge street fair will be held between 10am and 3pm, Sunday, 11 September, with face painting, climbing wall, caricaturist, roving fairy storyteller and bouncy castles as well as a street market.

A live performance of Shakespeare Shenanigans, a thrilling one-hour performance of some of the most famous fight scenes from the works of the world’s greatest writer, will be held at the Collie Senior High School’s Performing Arts Centre on Saturday, 17 September.

Expressions of interest are invited from buskers, stallholders and community organisations wishing to participate in the street fair and live performance.
